Bad difficulty progression (some later levels are easier than the first one).
Number after "level" started being invisible after level 8 or so.
Play again button doesn't work.
Not impressive.

jampatbt responds:

Thank you for the criticism and in my update I'll try to make it better. As for the level number thing, it never happened to me though.
:)

Thanks

Not bad.
Problems:
Picking up coins is a chore. Which is problematic, since it's upgrade game.
You can't jump while shooting (though you can shoot while jumping), which makes no sense.
You have no ability to evade enemy shots - you can't jump over them when inside a corridor, you can't shoot them down, nothing.
Camping in long corridor on the left is too effective compared to any other tactics.

So basically, it's Amateur Surgeon, except with better art, music and humour? Sweet.
Only complain, game sometimes had troubles with collision detection, but nothing big enough to discourage from playing the game.

MonoFlauta responds:

Glad you like it the game :) About the collision, is actually a fail zone were you can fail without loosing to make it more easier, since lot of people are having problems. Anyway, again, glad you like it the game!

Thanks for the review!

Explain to me: what shows this game is about zombies? I could as well be escorting people, robots, lemmings or hamsters, and there would be no difference. You don't even get some kind of scream of survivors being infected inside the safehouse, nothing. The only thing that is zombie-like is their snail pace, but I can't call that a good thing.

Not bad.
Problems:
A) Music mutes when you open inventory. Which would be not bad, except it doesn't come back afer you close it.
B) I can't seem to reach floating platforms. I can't jump that low, and apparently you can't perform a running jump here.
C) Floating text with name of item got from chest would help for orientation.
D) After you fix these, feel free to design more interesting levels (currently they are rather unimaginative and similar, but it's an engine test, so now wonder), and maybe add some story/NPCs/shops... Stuff like that.
Overally, game was fun, even when kinda unfinished. It has great potential, so keep up the work!

Um, what. I shot out all my flaming arrows, hit the TNT box, lost the level, only THEN TNT exploded killing zombie, after some time it tells me I won.
... What. If I clicked restart right away, I'd lose despite winning. Please, add some delay between "out of ammo" trigger and "automatic defeat" event, like all other physics game do, OK? Especially since here it can take some time for projectile to hit the target (weird gravity).

I liked original idea. And the "you're on your own" gameplay style kinda reminds me of Saboteur (weird, huh).
Though your shuriken(?) has painfully short range.

This game represents very ideas on which Newgrounds was founded.
All of them.

GregoryShitcock responds:

very ideas? typo much?

You need to work on your controls. They need to respond a) faster b) not stack actions (when you press buttons during doing something other, it should not happen at all, rather than happening after character finishes last action). Walljump seems kinda unresponsive, but it works.
I guess monkey was supposed to be enemy? It doesn't seem to take damage (all shots gone right through him), no matter how charged was shot.
I guess it might be problem since it's just too small to be hit, but:
a) it didn't seem to take any damage even when I was trying to shoot it near the ledge, in mid-air
b) charged shots didn't work, and they should have bigger blast.
You can Dash in mid-air, not sure if intentional. Dash jump works OK, so does shooting while dashing.
Game seems to freeze sometimes, and character will then just keep Dashing until he hits nearest wall, and then just stand in place and keep Dashing. Not sure why, it happened twice to me.
And, if you're want to make it like Megaman X games, then you should put Jump not as Up Arrow, but in the same area as action buttons (for example as C, or as Z and make Shoot as X, Dash as C).

There is no way to destroy enemy behind cover, or at machine gun nest, whihc makes some of matches standstills - who moves first, loses.
You know, you could've done that when someone is firing from cover, he still can get hit, there's just smaller chance for this. Or add grenades.

kknots responds:

Actually the man at machine gun has no protection, also enemies are constantly looking out of their cover - which makes them killable. Yes, grenades are a nice way to change things, but the entire gameplay will then radically change.

You got it right. The idea is: who moves first loses. But there are tricks to make enemies spend all their ammo - order your men to attack, stand in their attack range. Then attack while they are reloading.
